
Training locations
Many of HKV's training groups practice at several different locations. HKV also organises athletics schools and sports play schools in different locations around Helsinki.
On this page, you will find the most common training locations of the training groups as well as the locations for athletics schools and sports play schools. For detailed route information to all locations, visit hsl.fi.
TRAINING LOCATIONS FOR YOUTH TRAINING GROUPS
ELÄINTARHA SPORTS FIELD & TUNNEL​

Eläintarha Sports Field is a traditional and popular athletics stadium located in the central part of Helsinki. The field and surrounding area include a wide variety of facilities for different athletics events.
During winter, many groups train in the Eläintarha underground tunnel. The tunnel entrance is located behind the field's café. The tunnel has an indoor running track, facilities for long and triple jump, and a small gym.
You can reach Eläintarha by buses 69 and 506 and trams 3 and 4. Trunk route buses 500 and 510 stop just a few hundred meters from the field. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Pasila railway station and about 10 minutes from the Mannerheimintie bus stops.
PIRKKOLA SPORTS FIELD

Pirkkola Sports Field is located in Central Park in northern Helsinki. The stadium was renovated in 2024. In addition to the track, Pirkkola offers varied running trails and facilities such as a swimming hall, ice rink, and gym.
Buses on Ring I and Hämeenlinnanväylä, as well as light rail line 15, stop near Pirkkola. For example buses 23, 36, 53, 63, 66, and 67 also stop nearby.
LIIKUNTAMYLLY
Address: Jauhokuja 3, 00920 Helsinki
Liikuntamylly is located in Myllypuro, East Helsinki, right next to the Myllypuro metro station. Buses on Ring I also stop next to the venue.
The facility includes a 200-meter indoor track, sprint track, areas for jumping events, a shot put area, and a javelin throw wall. Nearly all groups train here during winter. Many competitions are also organised here during winter.
URHEA SPORTS HALL
Address: Mäkelänkatu 47, 00550 Helsinki
Some training groups practice at Urhea Hall, located next to Mäkelänrinne upper secondary school. The facility has a 138-meter indoor track, areas for long and triple jump, throwing walls for javelin and discus, and strength and general training areas.
Buses and trams along Mäkelänkatu stop next to Urhea Hall. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Pasila railway station.
OLYMPIC STADIUM INDOOR FACILITIES

During winter some groups and athletes train in the Olympic Stadium's indoor sports hall and indoor track.
Like Eläintarha, the Olympic Stadium is located in the city center. It is easily accessible by various trams and buses. The walk from Helsinki Central Station or Pasila station is less than two kilometers.

MUNKKINIEMI, MUNKKINIEMI FIELD
Osoite: Kadetintie 2a, 00330 Helsinki
In summer, two HKV athletics schools will train at Munkkiniemi Field. Tram 4 and buses 33 and 34 stop next to the field. Trunk bus 500 also stops nearby.
HERTTONIEMENRANTA, HERTTONIEMENRANTA SPORTS PARK
Address: Paasivaarankatu 9, 00810 Helsinki
In summer 2025, both HKV’s athletics school and sports play school will train at Herttoniemenranta Sports Park. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Herttoniemi metro station. Buses, including trunk lines 500 and 510, and buses to Laajasalo, Kruunuvuorenranta, and Roihuvuori, also stop near the metro station.
HAAGA, LAAJASUO SPORTS PARK
Address: Poutunkuja 8, 00400 Helsinki
In summer 2025, two HKV athletics schools will train at Laajasuo Sports Park. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Huopalahti railway station, and for example light rail line 15 stops nearby.
